Pure American Country is a weekly journey through the story of country music, hosted by WSM’s Zack Bennett. Every week, Zack explores a different theme through the music, bringing together songs and stories from across generations to show how country music’s past continues to shape its present — and how today’s artists are already influencing what comes next.
Along the way, Pure American Country connects the artists, songwriters, musicians, influences and relationships that have always made country music feel like one big family. From the legends who built the genre to the stars carrying it forward today, the show reveals the threads that connect one generation to another — and reminds us every week that the more country music changes, the more it stays the same.
