Born just outside Providence, Rhode Island, Charlie proudly holds the titles of “Resident Yankee” and—perhaps even more uniquely—the only Portuguese-American on staff at WSM. His radio journey includes early-career stops at WNWS in Miami and WLAC in Nashville, and he’s a proud 1985 graduate of the University of Miami.
Charlie spent nearly three decades as the voice of Vanderbilt Women’s Basketball and is a passionate fan of English Premier League Soccer, the music of Mary Chapin Carpenter, and the works of John Steinbeck. When he’s not on the air or at the Opry, you’ll likely find him digging through vinyl bins for rare Elvis and Sun Records gems.
He lives near Nolensville, Tennessee, with his wife Renée, their son Jackson, and the family’s beloved beagle, Kate.
