Zack Bennett

Zack Bennett has been with WSM Radio since 2021 and currently serves as the station’s Assistant Program Director. He is the host of the nationally syndicated Pure American Country, a weekly program exploring the people, songs and stories that connect country music’s past, present and future. On WSM, Zack also hosts The Opry Warm-Up Show and Opry Star Spotlight every Saturday night, along with the WSM Gospel Hour each Sunday morning.

Born in Nashville, raised in Mt. Juliet and a proud alumnus of Middle Tennessee State University, Zack literally grew up listening to WSM and the Grand Ole Opry. He began his radio career in 1999 and has worked across a wide range of formats, including on-air roles at country, Top 40 and classic hits stations, as well as producer positions in talk and sports radio.

Away from the studio, Zack can often be seen hosting Opry Plaza Parties and events on the PNC Plaza at Ryman Auditorium during the summer months. In 2026, he joined the Nashville Sounds as one of the club’s public address announcers. Zack and his wife reside in Smyrna, Tennessee.
